Concert and torch-lit procession in honour of the composer
On the occasion of W. A. Mozart's birthday anniversary on January 27, 2012 the Mozartgemeinde Vienna and the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna invite to Haus der Musik for a concert at 7:30pm followed by a torch-lit procession to the composer's grave at cemetery St. Marx.
January 27, 2012 marks the 256th anniversary of W. A. Mozart's birthday, a reason for the Mozartgemeinde Vienna and the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna to celebrate.
The Mozart Boys Choir Vienna starts off the celebration with a concert at 7.30pm at Haus der Musik. The performance is followed by an excursion to cemetery St. Marx, which - discontinued today- houses the last resting place of W. A. Mozart. Transport from Vienna's inner city to the last Biedermeier style cemetery and back will be provided for. The cemetery's mystical ambiance provides the backdrop for a torch-lit procession to the composer's grave. Musically accompanied by the Mozart Boys Choir Vienna, representatives of both organising associations will lay down a wreath at the grave. The evening ends with a warming glass of grog.
Tickets are on sale at Haus der Musik. The price (advance sale €26,-/ prior to show €28,-) includes the concert at Haus der Musik, transport to and from cemetery St. Marx, participation in the torch-lit procession and drinks.
