Live on Stage Special: The Unthanks

Haus der Musik, in cooperation with Vienna Songwriting Association, proudly presents a Live on Stage-Special by The Unthanks on April 25, 2010, at 8pm. English folk music - peppered with drums and bass, piano and violin themes as well as a melancholic mix of accordion and woodwinds.

"The Unthanks" are a group of folk musicians from England, who published their debut album "Cruel Sisters" in 2005. Their breakthrough came in 2007 with their second album "The Bairns." At the time, the siblings still called themselves "Rachel Unthank and the Wintersets." In 2009 they changed their band name to "The Unthanks", and started surrounding themselves with new artists. From this cooperation came their third album "Here's The Tender Coming."
Born and raised in North-eastern England, the sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank grew up on their parents' English folk music. Voices bright and clear, they perform beautiful classical folk. Drums and bass adorn their songs with rough beauty and a passionately bitter tone.
