NEWSLETTER APRIL 2011
A Packed Programme for Young and Old
From March 25 - 27, more than 2000 visitors flocked to the halls of Haus der Musik to enjoy live music performances during our very first HDM SpringBreak-Festival.
Mai Cocopelli's children programme set the festival off to a great start. Our young visitors continued to be flabbergasted the following day, when Mr. and Mrs. Weingartner's physical experiments introduced them to the world of sounds in astounding new ways. Our cooperation with the Vienna Conservatoire and our Open-House Day offered children many more exciting opportunities to discover music and sounds.
But HDM SpringBreak 2011 was not for children only. On the evenings of March 25 and 26, Trouble Over Tokyo, Destroy, Munich, Peter Piek, John Smith and Violetta Parisini rocked Haus der Musik's inner courtyard and set music enthusiasts' hearts racing. A retrospective of the festival in pictures can be found here.
Haus der Musik continues to enthuse its visitors in April: At the beginning of the month, the Sound Museum holds in store new and exciting events for children. In addition to our new children's guided tours, dedicated to Gustav Mahler, the Vienna Boys Choir presents the premiere of its children's opera „Das verflixte Hirn." Our popular children's stars Marko Simsa, Mai Cocopelli and Bernhard Fibich continue to delight the little ones with their sing-along concerts.
On April 12 we invite you to a very special charity event, free of admission. Students of the Vienna Conservatoire bring their creative accomplishments to the HDM-stage in aid of disaster victims in Japan. All proceeds of the day will go towards relief efforts in the region. We hope also for your support!
Towards the end of the month, Lisa Germano, an American singer of many talents, stops at the Sound Museum for a Live on Stage performance. You can look forward to an intriguing mix of indie and alternative!
As part of its continuing cooperation with the Jewish Museum Vienna, Haus der Musik also presents chief cantor Shmuel Barzilai live in concert, offering the rare aural pleasure of cantorial music.
Last but not least our tip for you: Join the KUNST HAUS WIEN in celebrating its 20-year anniversary!
We hope you enjoy reading our newsletter, and wish you a sunny month of April!
