See in the New Year at Haus der Musik
See the old year out and the new year in with HAUS DER MUSIK. The Sound Museum will once again be taking part in the Silvesterpfad, Vienna's famous New Year's Eve city walk, which lures over 600,000 visitors into the city centre every year.
Vienna is transformed into an enormous dance floor and concert stage for the night. The city's main squares are decorated and HAUS DER MUSIK will be a scene of unmitigated festivity. Our motto for the day is: "All the fun of the dance".
And this momentum and élan will set the tone for 2009 at HAUS DER MUSIK. Just a few days after the traditional New Year's Day Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted this year by Daniel Barenboim, a film of highlights of the event in HD will be on show in the Philharmonic Museum. Naturally the DVD and CD of the New Year's Concert will be available from HAUS DER MUSIK.
Other highlights in 2009 will include new, future-oriented musical installations that will open up new dimensions for the Sound Museum, our contribution to Joseph Haydn Year, discussions with artists and children's and Live on Stage programmes that are packed with wonderful events like never before.
