Spring Awakening at Haus der Musik
Live on Stage, Artists' Talk and a Superb Music Festival
March promises to be an exceptional month at Haus der Musik. In addition to well-known faces like the Mozart Boys Choir, Marco Simsa and Bernhard Fibich, we introduce the Romanian pianist Racula Stribat as well as James Harries and the Gentlemen & Assassins Live on Stage at the beginning of the month.
On March 10, Haus der Musik in cooperation with the Jewish Museum Vienna presents an artists' talk with Frederic and Rebecca Morton. Home country, dislocation, cultural uprooting, identity and language will be the topics of the evening.
On time for the beginning of spring, we surprise our visitors with another special event: From March 25 - 27, 2011 the Sound Museum hosts its first HDM SpringBreak-Festival, free of charge!
Haus der Musik's glass-roofed inner courtyard turns into a concert stage for big international names like Trouble Over Tokyo, Destroy, Munich and Moneybrother. The Springbreak-Festival also holds in store a colourful programme fur our young visitors: music workshops by the Vienna Conservatoire, children's concerts with Mai Cocopelli, a musical-physical play and sing along concert titled "A Little Night Physics," as well as children's guided tours and free museum entry for children and young adults.

Haus der Musik launches its HDM SpringBreak Festival with a number of highlights: In addition to a children's workshop by the Vienna Conservatoire and a concert by Mai Cocopelli, we proudly welcome British musician Trouble Over Tokyo as well as the Austrian indie rockers Destroy,Munich for fabulous live performances in the glass-roofed inner courtyard. The second day of our music festival starts off with a journey into the world of sounds: During the musical-physical children's programme "A Little Night Physics" children playfully learn what music is and why we can hear sounds. In the evening we await our visitors with a phenomenal solo performance by Swedish musicians Moneybrother, whose show will be opened by folk guitarist John Smith and multi-talent Peter Piek. |
HDM SpringBreak Festival - Sunday, 27. March 2011 Open House, Music Theatre & Children's Guided Tours
The final day of our HDM SpringBreak Festival is dedicated to our young visitors: Not only do children and young adults to the age of 19 enjoy free entry to the Sound Museum, throughout the day, from 10am to 10pm, they can also participate in our children's guided tours and enjoy the Vienna Conservatoire's colourful music theatre. |
