NEWSLETTER MAY 2012

Newsletter May 2012
Everything from pop beats to classical tunes - An extensive programme offering something for every taste

Haus der Musik's diverse programme continues to entice in May. Fans of classical music are offered another instalment of the artist's talk series, musically accompanied by the Vienna Philharmonic. This time around chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic Clemens Hellsberg welcomes the exceptional musician and conductor Daniel Barenboim. Join us when one of the most significant musicians of our time offers insight into his life, career and future projects.

On May 18, the Sound Museum presents a humorous concert at free entry. Gerhard Blaboll and the Mozart Boys Choir put the Viennese soul on stage. Featuring a healthy portion of self-mockery and wit their performance promises a special kind of evening. Entertainment and education is what Timna Brauer's children's programme holds in store. During her concert on May 13 (Mother's Day) children and adults go on a "journey through the world of world music".

May also features two Live on Stage performances. In cooperation with the Vienna Songwriting association and FM4, Haus der Musik presents the Swedish Combo Holmes on May 8, followed by the British band DIAGRAMS on May 21. Sam Genders, the front man of the latter, is also a member of the folktronica band Tunng. A superb melange of pop, folk and electronic tunes is guaranteed!

The creation of virto|stage, Haus der Musik's latest attraction set to premiere in October 2012, is advancing at a fast pace. In the coming days, participating musicians will do the recording for this multi-media opera experience. We are curious for the final results! If you want to get involved in bringing about this musical showcase, you might be interested in our „Building Stone-Spronsoring" initiative. Details can be found here.

Last but not least our musical tip for you: Jeunesse Wien offers a comprehensive repertoire covering jazz, world and new music and children's songs as well as an array of classical concerts. Subscriptions for concerts in 2012|13 are on sale now.

We wish you a good month of May and hope you enjoy reading our newsletter!
