Haus der Musik

NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2011

New installations, reunions with familiar faces and many things more

Haus der Musik marks the beginning of autumn with a tight programme: The night before the "Long Night of Museums," we welcome the Italian band Strepitz and their special guest Paolo Tofani live on stage. Then, on October 1st, the Sound Museum opens its doors for the city's night owls once again. As part of the "ORF Long Night of Museums" the museum's glass-roofed inner courtyard turns into a giant music stage. Young and old can look forward to an exciting and diverse concert programme.

In our exhibition area you can discover another highlight. Haus der Musik's new installation "NAMADEUS" can be tested for the first time. In using the interactive computer game - which is based on Mozart's musical game KV 516f - you now have the opportunity to turn your name into an original Mozart interpretation.

Those unable to make it to the "Long Night of Museums," can take advantage of the Sound Museum's musical offerings any other day of the month. Take our Live on Stage concert series: October offers not one, but two dates to enjoy live music performances. In cooperation with the Vienna Songwriting Association, Haus der Musik presents American musician John Vanderslice as well as the Swiss band My Heart Belongs To Cecilia Winter.

October is also an exciting month for Haus der Musik's young visitors. In addition to the popular concerts by Marko Simsa and Bernhard Fibich, we offer new children's guided tours on the topic of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Last but not least our tip for you: Following a period of reconstruction, the Jewish Museum Vienna is re-opening its doors to the public on October 19, and hopes to welcome you!
