Haus der Musik

THE VIRTUAL CONDUCTOR RELOADED FROM 28TH NOVEMBER 2009.

An attraction for the public with new features.

The most popular interactive attraction at the Sound Museum, the Virtual Conductor, has been re-programmed in the last couple of months, involving intensive efforts of our technical department. Great new features and new pieces of music have been added and we can't wait for the premiere of the new Virtual Conductor at the end of November.

Maestro Zubin Mehta himself has put together a new intro and gives professional tips and suggestions about how best to use the Virtual Conductor. Prof. Dr. Jan Borchers from RWTH Aachen University, the developer of the interactive game, has gone to great lengths to recompile everything from scratch.

"There are now more possibilities for the users; they will have a better sense of how they can directly put their own creativity into practice", comments Haus der Musik CEO Simon K. Posch, who is convinced "that there is now a greater appeal for even more potential visitors."

The Virtual Conductor
Together with the Vienna Philharmonic, you can play the Danube Waltz, the Annen Polka, Mozart's Serenade No. 13, or the Radetzky March, to some extent with a magical baton. The musicians obey the conductor, follow his tempo, his rhythm and even like to reward him with applause. However, the patience of the virtual orchestra is limited. Those who don't keep in time get a surprise. That's how it has been until now.

With the revised version it will be possible to experience and conduct even more pieces of music with the Vienna Philharmonics and to perform even more synchronously.
