Haus der Musik

MAESTRO MEHTA AND THE NEW VIRTUAL CONDUCTOR.

Premiere for the interactive highlight at Haus der Musik.

More than 1 million times, visitors of the Sound Museum have tried their skill at the Virtual Conductor and conducted the orchestra with the baton. The Virtual Conductor is, without any doubt, the most popular installation at Haus der Musik. It has now had a second premiere in front of press and media representatives.

The Director of Haus der Musik, Simon K. Posch, Wien Holding CEO KR Peter Hanke, the Chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Prof. Clemens Hellsberg, and the German software experts Prof. Jan Borchers and Prof. Max Mühlhäuser, who created the Virtual Conductor, presented the new "Virtual Conductor" on November 27, 2009.

About the new "Virtual Conductor" at Haus der Musik

The "Virtual Conductor" has been the absolute highlight at the Sound Museum: The installation has been reprogrammed by Prof. Jan Borchers, Professor at Aachen University of Technology. The music available has been extended and newly recorded together with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the Club of Music. The new musical introduction of Maestro Zubin Mehta will mark an additional highlight. Touch-screen, digital music stand and high-resolution HD projection will guarantee new, state of the art dimensions.

Under normal circumstances, one hardly has the chance to conduct an orchestra. At Haus der Musik, every visitor, thanks to technologies which have been specifically developed for that purpose, can try themselves at conducting an orchestra.
