TIP: ENJOY THE SUMMER OF MUSIC IN VIENNA
From the Film Festival to open-air concerts
Vienna and the surrounding area remain musical hotspots even in the summer. The Film Festival in front of the Vienna City Hall is a model for open-air cinema and attracts as many as 600 people every evening: with the best opera films and productions featuring the stars of yesterday and today - from Leonie Rysanek and Anna Netrebko to José Carreras and Boris Godunov.
There is also a wide range of concerts: from classical jazz at the State Opera to waltzes and baroque music.
Vienna in the summer features a jazz festival and open-air concerts in the parks and gardens, music in the Wiener Stadthalle, which for the first time this year will have concerts right through the summer, and music and other cult films at Karlsplatz and elsewhere.
